So, who am I? My name is Allison. I'm an Australian, currently living in Tokyo, who has spent way too much time reading English history. Yep, the time
that should be spent doing other stuff, you can often find me with my head
in a history book.
When I get my act together :) my real life consists of working part-time on a politics PhD, working for a research foundation, and doing volunteer work for a human rights NGO.
Why am I interested in The Wars of the Roses? That's a good question! I
suffer regular bouts of shame that I know more about another country's
history than my own, but actually, this is far from unusual for
Australians (I think it has something to do with having no castles!).
I first discovered this era of history studying Shakespeare's Richard
III at school and I immediately had to find out about these people. I've
been hooked ever since. Reading about this era of history has become a
good intellectual exercise for me. So much of what is written about the
Wars of the Roses and Richard III is biased to some extent, so I have got
into the habit of questioning what I read, thinking about why it was
written and by whom. This is something I have taken into other areas of
study and has proved to be an invaluable habit.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my Wars of the Roses page. If you would
like to make any comments, berate me for inaccuracies, etc.....email me!
